Police ID Man Killed In Fatal Pedestrian Crash
Montgomery County Police identified the 39-year-old fatally struck by a car on Veirs Mill Road as Irrael Lopez Garcia.
SILVER SPRING, MD — The pedestrian fatally struck by a car early Monday was identified Tuesday by police as 39-year-old Irrael Lopez Garcia.
Montgomery County Police had previously released Garcia's age, but not his name.
The fatal incident took place just after 2 a.m. near the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Gail Street. Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said in their Tuesday update that Garcia was struck by the driver of a 2009 Honda Civic who was traveling on east on Veirs Mill Road. The 39-year-old was in the roadway when the collision happened.

The driver remained on scene.
While authorities did not state whether charges were being considered in the case, an investigation does remain active.
