Police Investigating Fatal Car Crash In Silver Spring
A fatal car crash involving two Honda Accords and one MCPS school bus took place on Georgia Avenue Friday morning, police said.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Friday morning in the 13000 block of Georgia Avenue.
On Friday, May 5 at approximately 8:15 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Georgia Avenue at Regina Drive for the report of a serious collision that had just occurred, police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Georgia Avenue approaching Regina Drive. At the same time, a 2009 Honda Accord was attempting to make a left turn from westbound Regina Drive onto southbound Georgia Avenue. For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles collided in the intersection, police said.

As a result of the collision between the two Honda Accords, a Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) bus, not carrying any students, that was traveling southbound on Georgia Avenue near Regina Drive was also struck by the 2009 Honda Accord, police said.

The driver of the 2005 Honda Accord is identified as Ablavi Julienne Hobuame, 25, of Silver Spring. She was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the 2009 Honda Accord is being identified as Stavroula Doulaveris, 81, of Silver Spring. She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.Doulaveris succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, police said.
The driver of the MCPS bus is identified as Hyeong Seok Kang, 48, of Germantown. He was not injured in the collision, police said.
This collision remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed this collision or has information about this collision is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
