Sandy Spring 'Suspicious' Death, Vehicle Fire: Police Identify Victim

Police released the identity of the victim in June 17's joint vehicle fire and death in Sandy Spring.

SANDY SPRING, MD — Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department continue to conduct a joint vehicle fire and death investigationthat occurred June 17 on Excaliber Lane, Silver Spring.

At about 8:38 a.m., officers received a call for a vehicle fire on the property of a residence in the 1300 block of Excaliber Lane. Officers responded to the area and located a deceased person in the vehicle, police said.

Detectives released the identity of the victim Wednesday — Andrea Mion Hawvermale, 56, from the 1300 block of Excaliber Lane in Sandy Spring, police said. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore conducted an autopsy to determine Hawvermale’s manner and cause of death, and the results pending.

Police said that since this investigation is ongoing, no additional details can be released at this time. Anyone with information regarding this death is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
