Sexual Assault On Sligo Creek Parkway In Silver Spring Investigated By Park Police

A woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown man on Sunday as she was walking along a trail on Sligo Creek Parkway, according to police.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Maryland-National Capital Park Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred Sunday afternoon on the Sligo Creek Parkway.

Around 3:55 p.m., a woman was walking on a trail on the parkway near the intersection of Three Oaks Drive in Silver Spring, when an unknown man grabbed her buttocks. The woman confronted the man, who then fled along Three Oaks Drive, according to police.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned young man,with a medium build, who stood about 5-foot-8. He was wearing a teal blue windbreaker and a brown or tan cloth backpack with a buckle fastener. He was also wearing a black ski mask that covered most of his face.

Park police are investigating the incident and will increase the number of patrols in the area.
