Shots Fired From Moving Car Into Silver Spring Home: Police

Detectives are investigating a shooting where gunshots were fired into an occupied home from a moving vehicle, police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department have been investigating a shooting where gunshots were fired into an occupied home from a moving vehicle, police said. Detectives released video surveillance Wednesday and is asking anyone with information to contact police.

At about 3:25 a.m. July 17, police responded to a residence in the 9400 block of Avenel Rd. for the report of a possible shooting that had just occurred. The residents in the home told police they were awakened to the possible sound of gunshots, police said.

Detectives located numerous spent rounds that had traveled from the outside into the home and also found numerous shell casings in the roadway in front of the home, police said.

Area video surveillance captured the suspect vehicle at approximately 3:18 am (note that the time on the actual video is not correct, police said). No one was injured during this assault.

Anyone with information regarding this assault is asked to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
