Silver Spring Lawyer Appointed To Montgomery County Circuit Court

SILVER SPRING, MD — Jennifer Sue Hollander Fairfax, the founder of Jennifer Fairfax, LLC in Silver Spring, was named to the Montgomery County Circuit Court by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore on Friday.

“I am honored to appoint Ms. Fairfax to the Montgomery County Circuit Court,” Moore said, in a news release. “Her deep legal experience and expertise will enhance the circuit court, and I thank her for answering the call to serve the people of Montgomery County. Ms. Fairfax’s temperament and commitment to equal justice make her an exemplary choice to join the distinguished bench in Montgomery County.”

The Montgomery County Circuit Court is authorized to oversee civil and criminal cases and conduct jury trials in the Sixth Judicial Circuit, which is comprised of Montgomery and Frederick counties.

A family law attorney focusing on domestic and international adoptions and reproduction issues, Fairfax has worked with lawmakers to advance legislation related to those issues. She also advocated for the adoption of laws that would speed up the second parent adoption process for married and unmarried partners. She also advocated for the adoption of gender-neutral terms when referring to parents.

In addition to teaching courses on the adoption process and law, including LGBTQ law, Fairfax has published extensively about the adoption process issues, contract issues, and family law, according to a release from the governor's office.

Fairfax graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Liberty University in 1993, and earned her juris doctorate degree in 1997 from the University of Baltimore. She was admitted the Maryland bar in 1997; the U.S. District Court, District of Maryland bar in 1999; and the District of Columbia bar in 2007 for the U.S. Supreme Court.
