Silver Spring Man Arrested On Child Pornography Charges
Garrett Ronald Shaffer, 21, of Silver Spring has been charged with eight counts of distribution of child pornography, police said.
SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man is facing child pornography charges, according to Maryland State Police.
Troopers said they arrested Garrett Ronald Shaffer, 21, early Thursday morning.
He is charged with eight counts of distribution of child pornography.

According to troopers, beginning in Aug. 2021, Homeland Security Investigations conducted an investigation into the distribution of child pornography online.
The investigation ultimately led to the identification of Shaffer and his residence in Montgomery County.

Authorities did not provide further details.
Shaffer was ultimately arrested at his home and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Center, where he is being held without bail, troopers said.
