SILVER SPRING, MD — A 43-year-old automobile repair specialist from Silver Spring multiplied his winnings recently, by playing the same random numbers on four Pick 5 tickets from the Maryland Lottery.

The Montgomery County resident told lottery officials that he's been playing the same numbers ever since the game debuted.

“I picked the numbers, but they are completely random; 2, 1, 6, 2, 4 just looked and sounded right to me, so I went with it," he said.

Using his Lottery app during a break at work recently, the man discovered that those five numbers came up during the May 6 mid-day drawing, which meant he'd won the top prize of $50,000. Better still, he'd purchased four tickets for that drawing and ended up winning $200,000.

“I immediately dropped to my knees to thank God for the blessing,” the man said. He does not have any immediate plans for his winnings.
