Silver Spring Man Hit By Car In Wheaton Area Dies From Injuries

A Silver Spring man who was hit by a car as he was crossing a Wheaton street on June 3 died Wednesday from his injuries.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Vidal Godinez Guatemalteca of Silver Spring died from injuries he received on June 3 when he was struck by a car while crossing Gridley Road in the Wheaton area, according to a police release.

Guatemalteca died on Wednesday. He had been in intensive care in the hospital since the collision.

Montgomery County Police say that Guatemalteca was crossing Gridley Road around 10 p.m., when he was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado that was making a lefthand turn from southbound Selfridge Road. The 35-year-old was in the crosswalk at the time of the collision, according to initial reports.

MPD detectives are now investigating the collision as a fatality. Once the Collision Reconstruction Unit finishes its investigation, detectives will consult with the Montgomery County State's Attorney to determine if charges will be filed.
