Silver Spring Nurse Runs Half-Marathon to Beat Parkinson's Disease
Katherine Lewis ran the Atlantic City Half Marathon in honor of her father, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Silver Spring resident and registered nurse Katherine Lewis ran as a Parkinson’s Disease Foundation champion in the Atlantic City Half Marathon, in Atlantic City, NJ, on Saturday, and raised $680 for the organization.
Lewis ran the race in honor of her father who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
“I’ve always enjoyed staying active, just like my dad, so that’s why I decided to do a physical challenge and fundraise for [the] Parkinson’s Disease Foundation in his honor,” Lewis said prior to the race.

Lewis finished the race is just under two hours.
“Overall, it was a great success and experience,” Lewis said.
