Silver Spring Nurse to Run Half Marathon in Honor of Her Father
Proceeds from the Atlantic City Half Marathon will benefit the Parkinson's Disease Foundation

A Silver Spring resident and registered nurse will run in the 13.1-mile Atlantic City Half Marathon, in Atlantic City, NJ, on Sunday to benefit the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
Katherine Lewis, 26, is running in honor of her father who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
“As a family, we were all very upset after my dad’s Parkinson’s diagnosis, but we are working through everything together,” Lewis says in a press release. “I’ve always enjoyed staying active just like my dad, so that’s why I decided to do a physical challenge and fundraise for [the] Parkinson’s Disease Foundation in his honor.”

Lewis has already reached her personal fundraising goal of $500 for the marathon, but hopes to continue to exceed it.
“I am running the Atlantic City half marathon to raise funds to improve the lives and futures of people touched by Parkinson’s and to ultimately find a cure, and to support one of the people I love most in the world,” Lewis writes on her support page.
