A man found suffering from a gunshot wound in Silver Spring last month has died. Police say it 'does not appear to be a random event.'

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County police are now investigating a shooting that took place in Silver Spring last month as a homicide.

The fatal shooting took place in the 2000 block of Treetop Lane around 6:25 p.m. on Dec. 22, authorities say. When responding officers arrived, police said they found a 28-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The unidentified victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Authorities said they responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the 2000 block of Treetop Lane at around 6:25 p.m. and found a 28-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police have not disclosed the man's identity or the extent of his injuries, but said he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Sunday night's shooting does not appear to be random, police said.
