Silver Spring Storm Updates: No Trash Pick-Up, Town Hall Meeting Rescheduled
Important changes are being made in Silver Spring due to the severe weather conditions Tuesday.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Due to the continuing weather storm, County Executive Ike Leggett has declared County government and County facilities will be closed on Tuesday. This decision has been updated due to the severe weather conditions. Government facilities, other than public safety facilities, will be closed throughout the day.
Residents can park in County garages and parking lots for free until midnight Tuesday.
There will be no County recycling or trash pick-up on Tuesday, and all residents will have their pick-ups delayed by one day this week. Residents are asked to refrain from taking their trash cans and recycling bins to the curb. If your trash is normally picked up on Tuesday, it will be picked up Wednesday this week and so forth, ending with residents with Friday pick-up being collected on Saturday.

The Montgomery County Council’s Town Hall Meeting for residents of the Silver Spring area scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, has been postponed due to the weather conditions.
The Council was concerned that melting snow in the daytime, followed by evening freezing temperatures, would create hazardous conditions for those planning to attend the meeting at the Long Branch Community Center.
