Silver Spring Village names Marcy Frosh 1st Executive Director

Marcy Frosh was named the first Executive Director of Silver Spring Village, an organization that helps people age in place.

The Board of Directors of Silver Spring Village, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping neighbors age in place, announced the selection of Marcy Frosh as its first Executive Director, effective January 2015.


“Marcy’s professional and community experience and her knowledge of Silver Spring’s diverse communities make her ideally suited to work with our Board to ensure a vital and sustainable Village,” said Silver Spring Village Board President Claire Maklan.”


Frosh has leadership experience in nonprofit, private, and government sectors in the greater Washington, DC area. Most recently, she worked with the nonprofit Children’s Dental Health Project overseeing foundation and grant-funded programs with partners such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Her experience also includes work as a consultant for Silver Spring’s MayaTech Corporation on public health prevention initiatives for the National Cancer Institute (NCI/ NIH). Frosh brings an understanding of county government and its stakeholders, having served as a Montgomery County Community Resource Coordinator.

Frosh served on the Board of Directors of Montgomery County nonprofit organizations, including the Montgomery County Childcare Association, CollegeTracks, and the Ivymount School. Her education was also in the region – she is a graduate of the University of Maryland and the Georgetown University Law Center.


“I am honored and excited to join the Silver Spring Village team,” said Frosh. “I look forward to working with a remarkable group of volunteers who are deeply dedicated to fulfilling the Village’s mission to serve its valued members with services and programs that fill a gap in their needs. Our aging population is growing and Silver Spring Village is part of a model that responds to this significant trend and helps to strengthen all sectors of the community.”

The mission of Silver Spring Village is to build and sustain a supportive network of neighbors helping neighbors remain in their own homes and be engaged in their community as they age. Using a combination of volunteer and professional services and referrals, the Village provides our members a variety of services, including opportunities for social engagement. Participation by a diverse mix of residents within the Village’s defined geographic area enhances the quality of life for the entire community.
