Small-Space Vegetable Gardening Talk hosted by Silver Spring Garden Club on April 20
Learn how to maximize your growing space with interplanting, succession planting, using vertical structures and how to extend growing season

The Silver Spring Garden Club invites you to a talk on Small-Space Vegetable Gardening
Small-Space Vegetable Gardening is ideal for those with little space to devote to growing edibles or those who have a lot of space but not a lot of time. We’ll explore several diverse small-space, high-intensive gardening methods that require, no tilling, no digging, no weeding . . . no kidding. Because they are so compact these gardens are easy to protect from critters, pests and the weather. You will also learn how to maximize your space by interplanting, succession planting, using vertical structures and even how to extend your growing season without the use of a greenhouse.
Featured speaker, Kim Roman, is a Square Foot Gardening Certified Instructor, taught by its creator, Mel Bartholomew. Her passion is working with homeless shelters, charitable aide organizations and schools to teach people how to grow their own nutritious, organic vegetables to improve their health and their communities. See how she grew 250 lbs. of vegetables in her tiny back yard, even harvesting a modest amount of fresh produce in February. Kim is an Air Force veteran who home schooled her two sons while living and traveling around the world following her military husband. She is a member of the Garden Writers Association.
