UPDATE: Teenager Charged As Adult In Blair High School Stabbing

A student suspected of stabbing another student out Blair High School has been charged. His relative brought a weapon to school Tuesday.

SILVER SPRING, MD — The relative of a student suspected of stabbing another student in the parking lot of Montgomery Blair High School Monday morning brought a weapon to school on Tuesday, the principal said in a letter to families.

Principal Renay Johnson said the weapon was recovered during a self-search, and Montgomery County Police officers stayed on campus for the remained of the day.

On Monday, officers were called around 10 a.m. for reports of a stabbing, and the student who was injured was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police. The student suspected of stabbing the other student has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. The boy, who is 16, will be charged as an adult, police said.

Principal Renay Johnson told families in a letter that the suspect left the school after the stabbing, but was returned to school by the suspect's parents.

The school was in lockdown and then shelter-in-place for part of the morning.
