1 In Custody After Shooting; Shelter-In-Place Lifted At 5 MoCo Schools

GAITHERSBURG, MD — One person is in custody and shelter-in-place orders at five Montgomery County schools have been lifted after a shooting Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Students at five Montgomery County Public Schools were ordered to shelter in place Tuesday afternoon due to a police investigation, Montgomery County Police said around 1:15 p.m.
The department shared an update just after 2 p.m. that the scene had been secured. A third update at 2:34 p.m. revealed that a suspect was taken into custody.

Students sheltered in place at Watkins Mill High School, Watkins Mill Elementary School, Montgomery Village Middle School, Whetstone Elementary School, and Stedwick Elementary School.
