Suspect Wanted For Burglary, Thefts At Silver Spring Shopping Center

Montgomery County Police released photos Friday of a man wanted in a burglary and multiple thefts at a Silver Spring shopping center.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police released surveillance photos Friday of a suspect wanted in connection with for burglary and multiple thefts at the Westfield Wheaton Shopping Center in Silver Spring. They are asking the public's help in identifying the person in the photos.

Around 8:11 a.m. on April 3, the suspect entered the shopping center, which is located at 111000 Viers Mill Road and was previously called the Wheaton Plaza Mall. The suspect then broke into a stand-alone Cellairis kiosk and took property and an undisclosed amount of money before leaving the area, according to police.

The suspect returned to the shopping center around 8 p.m., on Aug. 15, and stole an undisclosed amenity of cash from the Toy World kiosk, according to police. He then walked around the shopping center, looking at other kiosks.

Approaching the Rico's Ice Cream, the suspect leaped over the county, opened the register and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, police say.

Police described the suspect as a heavy-set, Black man, with short hair. He may be in his 20s.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Tips may remain anonymous.
