Traffic Alert as Resurfacing Nears Completion
The project covers Layhill Road near the Beltway, says state agency.

Release: State Highway Administration
Looking to take advantage of unseasonably mild temperatures, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin final resurfacing on more than one mile of MD 182 (Layhill Road) between Park Vista Drive and Chester Mill Road in the Silver Spring/Aspen Hill area (see map below).
Weather permitting, the work could be completed as early as the end of the year. The original completion date for the project was the late spring of next year.

This week, crews began roadway patching on all lanes of Layhill Road. Once patching is completed, crews will pave and apply new pavement markings.
SHA may close one lane in both directions of Layhill Road between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays through the end of the project. Please click here for more project information.

Once all of the resurfacing is complete, crews may perform other activities that are not expected to affect traffic lanes. They will use arrow boards, cones and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists are urged to use caution through the work zone. For the latest real-time traffic information:
