Verizon Wireless Issues Resolved; Call 911 For All Emergencies Again

Emergency 911 service was inaccessible to some callers Friday morning due to issues with Verizon Wireless. Service has been restored.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — For about an hour on Friday, issues with Verizon Wireless service caused emergency 911 to be inaccessible for some callers in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Emergency Communications reported around 9:45 a.m. on Friday that it was experiencing Verizon Wireless issues, which prevented some callers from being able to reach 911.

Police directed customers to call their district stations while Verizon worked to resolve the issue.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Montgomery County sent out an alert notifying the public that the issue had been resolved and that all requests for emergency service should be made to 911.
