SILVER SPRING, VA — Montgomery County police detectives released a surveillance video showing an unidentified man wanted for the strong-arm robbery Thursday at an Aspen Hill Wendy's restaurant, according to a police release.
Officers responded around 6:30 p.m., for the report of a robbery at a Wendy's in the 14000 block of Connecticut Avenue, according to police.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a man walked up to the counter at Wendy's to order food and handed change from his pocket to a restaurant employee, according to police. When the employee opened the register, the customer lunged across the counter and wrenched the register tray out of the drawer. The employee tried to wrestle the tray from the man but lost their grip on it. The suspect then ran from the restaurant with the stolen tray of money.
