Who Is Leaving Blue Hearts on Police Cars?
Someone is showing their love for Montgomery County Police by putting blue hearts on patrol cars. The latest popped up in Silver Spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — With Valentine's Day approaching, and a string of police officer deaths across the country still a vivid memory, someone in Montgomery County is showing the police force some love. On Tuesday the Montgomery County Police Department shared photos of simple blue hearts being left on patrol cars, bearing the note: "Thank you."
The notes are taped to the window of police vehicles and read, “Thank you for protecting us out here in these mean streets.” Authorities say they have no idea who is behind the thoughtful campaign, but they appreciate the gesture.
Officer Tara Bond said she picked up her cruiser Tuesday at the Silver Spring substation and noticed the hearts. “The outpouring of support that I’ve received personally as a police officer in Montgomery County has been overwhelming and everybody’s been really great,” Bond told Montgomery Community Media.

Other parked police units on Tuesday had similar hearts and messages.
Police spokesman Officer Rick Goodale said no one is counting how many hearts have been distributed.

“I think people want to show their appreciation and support,” said Bond. “We appreciate it a lot right now because times aren’t always easy.”
