Woman Charged With Fraud Related to MD Driver's Licenses

Elisa Arleni Ordonez, 38, allegedly provided fake documents for out-of-state residents to get Maryland driver's licenses.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring woman has been charged with multiple counts of fraud after allegedly providing fraudulent documents for out-of-state residents to get Maryland driver's licenses. A 14-month investigation revealed that Elisa Arleni Ordonez of the 13200 block of Locksley Lane sold fake documents to at least 40 people, according to the Montgomery County police. The investigation was conducted by county police and the Maryland Department of Transportation.

Authorities said out-of-staters paid Ordonez, 38, between $1,700 and $2,550 for bank statements and utility bills so they could prove residency and get driver's licenses from the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).

While searching Ordonez' home, police found a list of people who bought fake documents, officials said. The MVA determined that the fraudulent documents showed identical banking and information, and is in the process of canceling driver's licenses that were issued, according to police.
