Woman Shot Outside Westfield Wheaton Mall In Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MD — A woman was injured Saturday morning in a shooting outside Westfield Wheaton Mall in Silver Spring, according to authorities and a report.

Montgomery County police on Saturday confirmed that officers were called to a shooting in the 11160 block of Veirs Mill Road. Authorities told WJLA the shooting happened outside near Target and Costco.

A suspect was taken into custody, police said.

The victim was identified only as a woman, police told WJLA. She was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

According to authorities, there is no ongoing threat to the community.
