Police: 3 Reports Of Vandalism Within 24 Hours In Takoma Park

The incidents occurred at the Takoma Business Center, Takoma Park Middle School and Green Hill Child Development Center.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Three different criminal incidents involving the destruction of property were reported in Takoma Park within 24 hours, police told Patch. The first incident took place at the Takoma Business Center Feb. 20, the next at Takoma Park Middle School Feb. 21 and the last at Green Hill Child Development Center.

At about 12:58 p.m. Feb. 20, police were called to the Takoma Business Center in the 6900 block of Carroll Avenue for a report of malicious destruction of property. An unknown suspect exited the building and intentionally smashed an interior glass entrance door, police said.

Police described the suspect as a black male, about 6-feet-tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black long sleeve sweatshirt, black Under Armor sweatpants and neon green shoes.

The next incident happened at about 8:40 a.m. Feb. 21. Police were called to Takoma Park Middle School in the 7600 block of Piney Branch Road for a report of vandalism. Officers discovered the shipment garage doors on the back side of the school had black graffiti style writing scrawled on them, police told Patch.

The suspects appeared to try to cover up the writing with a coat of white paint they sprayed on top, police said.

Lastly, at about 9:18 a.m. Feb. 21, police responded to the Green Hill Child Development Center in the 100 block of Geneva Avenue. Officers said that sometime between 6-7 a.m., an unknown suspect threw a rock through the window.
