Event: Free Adult Self-Defense Intro Class

Who: Adults (18+)
Residents of Takoma Park, Maryland, are invited to attend a free introductory self-defense class for adults. Maryland Systema offers practical training for people who want to improve their awareness, movement, balance, and ability to respond under pressure.
This Takoma Park self-defense class focuses on realistic adult training rather than sport, competition, or memorized routines. Participants will receive an introduction to Maryland Systema’s approach to self-protection through breathing, relaxation, posture, structure, and natural movement.
The class includes instructor-led exercises and controlled contact. Training begins gradually so participants can learn how balance, distance, positioning, and decision-making affect personal safety.
No previous martial arts or self-defense experience is required. The class is designed for adult beginners and people who may feel unsure about joining a traditional martial arts school. There is no sparring, no competition, and no requirement to work beyond your comfort level.
This free introductory class gives Takoma Park residents an opportunity to experience Maryland Systema firsthand before deciding whether to attend future classes. There is no contract or obligation to continue.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Class size is limited.

The Christalis Superhero 5k Run/Walk is a fundraising event focused on benefiting poor and orphaned children in Uganda. Join us in raising money for our project and children!
All runners receive a t-shirt, pre &amp; post run snacks, goody bag, a fun warm-up and post-run mini yoga session. The winners receive medals and prizes. There will also be fun activities for Kids: Face Painting, Obstacle Course, Crafts, Kiddie Dash, and Games.
