A growing "De-Flock America" movement is urging people to vandalize such cameras on Halloween, while communities and experts argue over whether these systems improve safety or dangerously expand surveillance.
• Robbery, Auto Thefts and School Weapons Incidents Included in September 3 Crime Summary (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County Police report that in the 3rd District, which includes Takoma Park, officers recovered a stolen motorcycle and made two arrests, and also investigated a robbery on Fenton Street early Thursday. Additional incidents included a stolen vehicle in Germantown and weapons found on students at a Gaithersburg-area school, offering a snapshot of nearby crime trends residents should be aware of.
• PR: Announcing City Wide Events at SPX 2026 (blogspot.com) — Small Press Expo is bringing a full week of comics events to the DC region next week, and one of the participating venues is listed at a Westmoreland Avenue address in Takoma Park.
