Event: Free Adult Self-Defense Intro Class
When: Sunday, 1:30–3:00 p.m.
Where: Dance Exchange, Studio 3, Takoma Park
Who: Adults (18+)
Residents in and around Takoma Park are invited to attend a free introductory self-defense class focused on realistic, adult training rather than sport or competition.
The class introduces participants to how Maryland Systema approaches self-defense using structure, breathing, relaxation, and movement. Instead of memorizing set patterns, attendees learn through guided movement and controlled contact to better understand balance, awareness, and decision-making under pressure.
This class is designed for adults with no prior martial arts or self-defense experience. Training is instructor-led, introduced gradually, and conducted in a structured environment. There is no sparring, no competition, and no expectation to push beyond individual comfort levels.
The introductory class is offered so local residents can experience the training firsthand and decide whether it is a good fit. There is no obligation to continue after attending.
Comfortable clothing suitable for movement is recommended. Class size is limited.
Before attending a class, please text us at 301.326.9146 to confirm your attendance, as class cancellations occasionally occur.
