A SERIOUS MAN
Dir. Joel Coen and Ethan Coen (105min, USA, 2009)
Narrative

This
dark comedy, set in 1967, tells the story of Larry Gopnik, a physics
professor in a quiet mid-west American town who finds his life crumbling
around him, in Joel and Ethan Coen's hilarious, brilliant, and unfairly
neglected take on the story of Job.  When a host of misfortunes befalls
him, Larry consults not one, but three, rabbis on his quest to become
‘a serious man.’

THE BIG LEBOWSKI
Dir. Joel Coen and Ethan Coen (117min, USA, 1998)
Narrative

The
Dude returns to the big screen! Mixing in Leninist philosophy, mistaken
identity, crazy characters, a kidnapping plot, and a deep love of
bowling, the Coen Brothers unleashed upon an unsuspecting world the many
glories of The Big Lebowski.

When “The Dude” Lebowski
is mistaken for a millionaire Lebowski, two thugs coerce him into
paying a debt he knows nothing about. He enlists the help of his bowling
buddy, Walter, a gun-toting Jewish-convert with anger issues. Deception
leads to more trouble, and it soon seems that everyone from porn empire
tycoons to nihilists want something from The Dude.
