County's Unemployment Rate Hits 7-Year Low
The April 2015 unemployment rate for Montgomery County was 3.7 percent, according to government data.

Montgomery County’s unemployment rate hit a seven-year low in April of 3.7 percent, marking the first time it has been below 4 percent since December 2008.
The last time the rate was at 3.7 percent was in October and November 2008, according to the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.
Montgomery and Howard County tied for the lowest rates in Maryland, officials said in a news release.

County Executive Ike Leggett welcomed the news, but said there is room to grow.
“While the county is doing a good job given the worst economic conditions in decades, we can do better. We must do better,” said Leggett.

“We must be more attuned to business trends and needs. We must be more flexible in our approach. We must improve our workforce development programs.”
