Singer/songwriter and former Takoma Park resident Jeanne Mackey offers Drop the Knife: A Memoir-in-Song--a disarmingly honest and wryly funny musical chronicle of her search for personal and ancestral healing, from the high desert of the Eastern Sierras to the verdant Irish countryside. She wrote the piece on the occasion of turning 60 last year.
Mackey will be joined by Lori Fithian (percussion), Laszlo Slomovits (fiddle, mandolin, guitar, panpipes)of the children's music duo Gemini, and Eric Fithian (bass), with special guest vocalists Luci Murphy, Julie Parsons, Martha Leader, and Steve Jones.
Part of the We Are Takoma series, the performance will take place on Friday, October 14, 7:30 p.m., at the Takoma Park Community Center, 7500 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park. Suggested donation is $15-$10.
