For beginners & advanced beginners on ukulele: fun group classes with Maureen Andary of the local group "The Sweater Set." These are 6-week sessions meeting on Saturdays, starting Jan. 8.
Beginner Ukulele: 12:00-1:00pm
Learn the basics of ukulele: how to hold it, several strumming and picking techniques, and songs you love. In this class we not only learn basics like Happy Birthday, but also pop classics. We will pick our repertoire the first day of class. In the past, songs have included Yellow Submarine, Bye Bye Love, and Leaving On a Jet Plane. But this class is tailored to what you want to learn—so you can learn uke techniques and feel motivated by the music you LOVE! Maureen loves making easy arrangements for beginners, and is open to anything—it's a lot of fun. This class is designed for complete beginners to the uke—no experience is necessary.

Beginner 2 Ukulele: 1:00-2:00pm (Another Beginner 2 class will be offered Wednesdays (starting Jan 12), 7:30-8:30pm. Indicate your day preference when signing up).
Learn all your favorite '60s pop tunes! From The Beatles to Otis Redding, we'll be working with Jim Beloff's '60s Uke-In book (available to purchase at HMT), which has extensive chord charts. We'll explore musicality with an array of new strumming & picking techniques. We will also learn some basic jamming skills, and scales to get you playing instrumentals. It's always a good time at this class—we keep it light, have fun, and learn new things. The Beginner 2 level is appropriate if you already know some basic chords and strums.
