The Folklore Society of Greater Washington's 35th Annual Washington Folk Festival

Enjoy more than 450 of the best musicians, dancers, storytellers and crafters our area has to offer at the Folklore Society of Greater Washington’s 35th Annual Washington Folk Festival to be held at Glen Echo Park on the weekend of May 30-31 from Noon to 7:00 p.m. each day.

This family-friendly festival provides a rich smorgasbord of international culture along with American blues, bluegrass, old-time string bands, contemporary singer-songwriters, gospel, Western swing, storytellers, and handmade crafts and instrumental jams. With seven stages simultaneously presenting live music and dance throughout Glen Echo Park, young and old can delight in the Festival’s many opportunities. The Bumper Car Pavilion is transformed into a craft marketplace where local artisans demonstrate and sell their wares. The fully restored Spanish Ballroom comes alive with music and dance workshops including traditional Hawaiian hula, Klezmer, and English Country Dance. Children and adults can enjoy tall tales at the Storytelling Stage before heading to the restored 1921 Denzel carousel for a ride.

The free-­to-­the-­public FSGW Washington Folk Festival will take place rain or shine, at Glen Echo Park, at 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, MD. There is limited on-­site parking; a free shuttle bus system runs from the
GEICO Parking Lot at 5260 Western Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD, 20815, just two blocks from the Friendship Heights
Metro.
