TP Native Fred Funk in 19th Place After One Day of Golf

Day one of the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship wrapped up this afternoon at TPC Potomac with Texan Tom Kite in the lead at 3-under par. 

Just one of the golfers ranked among the top five by PGATOUR.com's Vartan Kupelian on Tuesday even placed in the top ten in Thursday's first round. That golfer was Michael Allen, ranked fifth, whose 68-shot round placed him second overall.

Fred Couples, who was ranked second by Kupelian, notched an unimpressive 8-over par, tying him for 67th place. Fourth-ranked Takoma Park native Fred Funk was 2-over, putting him in 19th place. Bernhard Langer, who was ranked first overall, shot 1-over, placing him 11th.
