Takoma Park Capital BikeShare Station Opens

The new station is right in front of the Takoma Park Recreation Center.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Metro DC's bike share program Capital Bikeshare opened a new station right in front of the Takoma Park Recreation Center at New Hampshire Avenue Tuesday.

This isn't the first Capital Bikeshare station in Takoma Park, as the program first came to the city in September 2013. There are stations at: Carroll & Westmoreland Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue and at 7031 MD-195.

Capital Bikeshare has over 3,700 bikes and 440 stations across Washington, DC; Arlington, VA; Alexandria, VA; Montgomery County, MD; and Fairfax County, VA.

All you have to do to rent a bike is purchase a short-term pass at a kiosk, get a ride code to unlock your bike, make as many short trips as you want while your pass is active, and then return your bike to any station.

According to the BikeShare website, the most popular BikeShare passes are the single trip pass for $2, perfect for a quick trip under 30 minutes, or the 24-hour pass for $8.
