One Day Folk Extravaganza: FSGW's Mini-fest

Enjoy a day of traditional music, dance, storytelling, crafts, food and more!

When: Saturday, February 7, 2015, 12 noon to 10:30 p.m.

Where: the Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Road, Takoma Park, MD

Enjoy a day of traditional entertainment -- singing, dancing, storytelling, crafts and more -- presented by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington. Mini-Fest features two all-day dance tracks, and seven workshop and performance sites, plus unscheduled hallway jam sessions and shenanigans. Come prepared to enjoy English Country Dancing, Barn Dancing, Tango, Morris Dancing, Contra Dancing, Waltzes and more. Singers and instrumentalists will thrill to a day of Ballad Singing, Gospel Singing, Sea Chanteying, Blues, Cowperson songs, an Irish seisiún, Cajun and Old-timey Music. There will also be a full storytelling track, and craft and food vendors plus an evening concert and an evening dance.
