Where Does Fillmore Rank on Billboard's List of Top 25 Music Clubs?

The venue is in the renovated shell of a former JC Penney store in downtown Silver Spring.

Fillmore venues and House of Blues clubs across the country rule Billboard’s list of the most attended clubs in the country, with The Fillmore in Silver Spring ranking high.

The Fillmore Silver Spring club is listed at No. 12 on Billboard’s ranking.

The rankings were based on attendance figures reported to Billboard Boxscore between May 1, 2013 and April 30, 2014. The Fillmore Silver Spring’s total attendance for the period was 152,332.

Here’s what the music publication said of the club:

The Fillmore opened in 2010 as part of Live Nation’s campaign to extend the San Francisco Fillmore Auditorium’s brand across the country. Formerly a story, the Silver Spring incarnation is one of the first music venues to be LEED-certified. “We literally have a green roof,” says House of Blues Entertainment CEO Rob Bension.”

Operated by Live Nation under a lease with Montgomery County, The Fillmore Silver Spring opened on September 15, 2011 in the renovated shell of the JC Penney store on Colesville Road in downtown Silver Spring, says Montgomery Community Media. It was inspired by the original Fillmore in San Francisco and has a capacity of up to 2,000 people.

The 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., was ranked No. 3 on Billboard’s list.
