10 Schools And Centers Start Classes Friday: BCPS
Multiple Baltimore County schools and centers will be closed again on Thursday, Sept. 6.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Rather than announcing that 10 schools and centers would be closed for a third consecutive day, Baltimore County Public Schools officials are reporting the school year will begin for hundreds of students on Friday. Authorities are framing Friday, Sept. 7, as a "second 'first day'" for students.
School began for most students in Baltimore County Public Schools on Sept. 4.
But heat indices greater than 100 degrees have prompted closures at 10 schools and centers countywide since then, meaning those students have not yet had their first day of school, because their schools do not have air-conditioning.

Temperatures are expected to top out around 90 degrees on Thursday in Baltimore County, according to the National Weather Service, which says the heat index may reach 100 degrees.

- Catonsville Center for Alternative Studies
- Bedford Elementary School
- Berkshire Elementary School
- Colgate Elementary School
- Dundalk Elementary School
- Dulaney High School
- Lansdowne High School
- Patapsco Center for the Arts
- Woodlawn High School
