Jason Schneider was a 36 year old father, husband, son and brother. He also was a policeman assigned to the tactical division of Baltimore County since 2004. Everyone looked up to him and he was the first to go on an assignment when needed. That he did a few days ago in Catonsville when he was gunned down. He was able to shoot his assailant and he passed away a bit later from his wounds received when he arrived at the house.
Today his funeral was held and policeman from all over many states were present.
We were eating dinner in Red Robin in Towson and we were seated across from a table of about ten men in uniforms eating their dinner too. They all had on their uniforms and their stripes designating their ranks. We did not know who they were until the sergeant walked by us and my husband asked him where he was from and he said the Delaware State police. They had come from Delaware to honor our departed police warrior. He shook my husband’s hand and I thanked him for coming to the funeral to honor Jason Schneider.

A few minutes later, they all got up to leave and the bill was given by the waitress for their remittance. She came back and said a man at the bar declared he was paying their bill. The sergeant was overwhelmed and said thanks. I presume the patron who was so generous was honoring them, the police from Delaware. We were overwhelmed when we heard the waitress telling him that his bill was paid by a man in the next room.
There is a saying that says “Today, I am thankful. I cannot live life with a negative mind.” Well this generous anonymous gentleman is surely a peaceful, kind and dear person himself. To do something like this, to treat others, strangers because you see them honoring a fallen officer, make them real menshes (good souls) and may the soul of Jason rest in peace and may these fellow officers from here and anywhere be given good health, safety and a freedom medal. These people put their lives on uncertainty every day and may they be blessed with a long life of peace.

We honor them though we do not say it often. Jason will never be forgotten for his work and the love he had for his fellow citizens.
