AAA Opens Service Center on York Road

New shop offers car service, travel supplies, insurance and vacation planning.

AAA Mid-Atlantic cut the ribbon Wednesday on its new car care center on York Road in Towson.

The new car care, insurance and travel center, located at 1019 York Road, just south of the I-695 beltway, opened last month and is AAA's first in the Baltimore area. It aims to be a sort of one-stop shop for drivers, offering car repairs and standard AAA services, but also everything from roadmaps and suitcases to currency exchange and vacation planning.

"It's a combination of the traditional AAA retail office and car repair," said Don Gagnon, president and CEO of Wilmington, DE-based AAA Mid-Atlantic, which has an office in Towson. "And car repair is so important a program for our members today."

The Towson location is the second of six planned in Maryland.  The first was in Frederick. AAA members can receive a discount on some services.

While getting an oil change, you can browse travel guides from across North America, pick up driving accessories and plan your next cruise. Gagnon said AAA is also planning to add tag and title services to the Towson store.
