Ann Taylor Closing Towson Mall Store

The store in Towson Town Center will reportedly close this weekend.

TOWSON, MD — The Ann Taylor store will reportedly close this weekend in Towson. The woman's clothier plans to shutter its Towson Town Center location on Saturday, Jan. 27, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The Ann Taylor chain began in 1954 in New Haven, Connecticut, named after a sophisticated dress design in the dress shop belonging to the founder's father. Ann Taylor has grown in the 60-plus years since and now has more than 200 locations.

In Towson, Ann Taylor is located in the second floor of Towson Town Center near Crate & Barrel.

The store in Towson is closing Saturday, Jan. 27, one of several in the company's portfolio shuttering as demand for online shopping grows, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported Towson Town Center plans to "have an announcement soon about a new tenant."

There are also Ann Taylor stores at The Mall in Columbia, Annapolis Mall and Montgomery Mall.

Ascena Retail Group, which oversees Ann Taylor and many other women's brands, also includes LOFT, which features value-driven, versatile feminine clothing.

LOFT generates more than double the revenue of Ann Taylor, according to Ascena Retail Group. Ann Taylor makes up 11 percent of the retail group's revenue while LOFT accounts for 23 percent, the company stated in a January 2018 report. Maurices, Lane Bryant, Justice and Dressbarn are among its other companies.

The LOFT store in Dulaney Plaza, across from the mall, will remain open at 830 Dulaney Valley Road.
