BUILDING WITH BLOCKS ...
For the 12th week of the Assistance Center's expansion/renovation project, on Saturday, August 24 volunteer teams worked on blocking walls for the new north section and making preparations for installation of the central section's windows.
The multitalented construction boss Paul Dickover skillfully laid out the cinder blocks on the concrete footer and spread the mortar that holds them together, proving to be the "fastest trowel on the block," to borrow a title I stole from a YouTube video. His assistants kept the mortar flowing and the blocks coming his way. The wall will support the wooden framework that is waiting to be erected.
Elsewhere another team headed by project supervisor Charlie Utermohle were busy at work roughing in the central section's windows.
All nine appreciated the lunch break and spread provided by Leslie S., Suzanne B. and Julie C.
