Baltimore County Board of Education Elects New President, Vice President

Each year the Baltimore County Board of Education elects officers, and Tuesday's vote determined the president and vice president for the new fiscal year.

David Uhlfelder of Pikesville was elected president at Tuesday's board meeting. He's not new to being an officer on the board. He served in the last fiscal year as vice president.

Uhlfelder said he was “very humbled" to be voted into the position and said this was "the most constructive board we’ve ever had," according to a statement from Baltimore County Public Schools. Uhifelder has been on the board since his appointment in 2008. He is an accountant with a degree in business and public administration from the University of Maryland.

Charles McDaniels Jr. of the Fourth District was elected vice president at Tuesday's meeting.

McDaniels, who was appointed to the board in 2011, is an engineer with a bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon and a master's degree in business administration from Loyola University of Maryland. 

He said he hoped to help make the board "more responsive" and "more data-driven," according to Baltimore County Public Schools.

Board officers serve one-year terms, beginning with the July meeting, according to Baltimore County Public Schools.
