Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Dallas Dance was honored over the weekend at the President's Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C.

Using more technology was a change Dance said he knew that people in Baltimore County wanted.
"Right from the beginning, from many voices, I heard a clear consensus. Our families and staff spoke about tangible differences – differences in hardware, software, and connectivity that some schools had and others lacked," Dance said. "Behind these concerns, right below the surface, was a less tangible goal: Better opportunity. The kind of opportunity that our country was founded upon.”

Through a program called Students and Teachers Accessing Tomorrow (S.T.A.T.), he helped facilitate a shift in teaching and learning. He has also helped introduce world language in classrooms at fourth grade.
At the inaugural ball, Dance was in esteemed company.
Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, former FCC commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel and Project Lead the Way Executive Director Vince Bertram were also recognized.
