Billboard Aims To Drive New Leads In Towson Cold Case

The purpose of the billboard on York Road is to generate new leads in a murder near Towson.

TOWSON, MD — A new billboard on York Road was installed recently in hopes of drumming up new leads in the murder of a young woman in the Towson area. Jody LeCornu, 23, was found shot to death in her car in a shopping center parking lot on March 2, 1996.

More than 22 years later, police continue trying to get information about the homicide that will help investigators crack the case.

Police said the victim's twin sister, Jennifer LeCornu Carrieri, came up with the idea of posting a billboard at 5722 York Road, near St. Dunstans Road. It was installed on Oct. 29 and features the statement: "Find My Killer."

They found Jody LeCornu had been shot in the back, and investigators determined she was shot while sitting in her vehicle in the Drumcastle shopping center parking lot across the street.

After she was shot, police said Jody LeCornu drove across York Road into the parking lot of the York Road Plaza.

Witnesses reportedly told investigators that a stocky black man followed her car into the parking lot, then took an item from her vehicle before driving away on York Road in a white BMW. He was wearing a green/drab army-style coat, according to authorities.
