Captain Jonathan Trentzsch is a Good Commander-Woodlawn is Fortunate to Get Him--What does the reaction of punishment tell us about Baltimore County?
It was not mentioned in the Towson Patch article that Captain Jonathan Trentzsch was the Captain of Precinct 8 in Parkville in the not so distant past. As a community leader, I always found him to be approachable and effective in my community of Carney. I was sorry to see him leave.
I would hope that his transfer to Woodlawn had nothing to do with the Towson Precinct arrest of Councilman Todd Huff for drunk driving and improper behavior by trying to use the "do you know who I am" approach with the officers. That surely would be inappropriate!
The reaction in the few comments I read are very telling about Baltimore County. Reassignment to Woodlawn is immediately perceived as a punishment. People of color are still being stereotyped with a broad brush. I do not hear or see comments that say what did (fill in the blank wih a name) do to be reassigned to Dundalk or Essex? Why is that?

I think Baltimore County is a color averse as it was in the 1960's--but in a more veiled way. If this is not true why do we have only one Council District with a person of color in Baltimore County when the majority of the students in Baltimore County Public Schools are students of color?
Why do we have a long line of County Executives that goes back to Dale Anderson that have risen to power on the coattails of the previous "good ole boy" Baltimore County Executives? A good example is the current County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. During his 2010 campaign for County Executive, Kevin Kamenetz bragged about being Ted Venatoulis' driver when Ted Venetoulis campaigned for County Executive.

I am not commenting on Ted Venetoulis' service as County Executive. By all accounts, Mr. Venetoulis is a good guy who is well respected. I am commenting on the inbred process for becoming a candidates for Baltimore County Executive.
Why has there never even been a female County Executive let alone a Black County Executive?
When will Baltimore County progress to the point that we do not associate being assigned police duty to an area predominantly black as punishment?
When will Baltimore County progress to the point that we do not try (physically or mentally) "corral" black people of into certain NW areas? When will we stop stereotyping black people in Baltimore County? When will we rise above the token black appointments?
I hope to live long enough to see a truly integrated diverse society. We are on the road--no thanks to Baltimore County Executives and Government.
