What is the Hackerman-Patz House?

The Hackerman-Patz House at St. Joseph Medical Center was built to provide patients, and their family members or caregivers, an affordable place to stay.

Many of our patients at St. Joseph Medical Center come from out of town or do not live in a reasonable proximity to the hospital.  When a patient is undergoing extended treatment or care, the cost to relocate a family for an extended period can be a tremendous financial burden to the family.

The Hackerman-Patz House at St. Joseph Medical Center was built to provide these patients, and their family members or caregivers, an affordable place to stay.  The convenience and affordability of the house allows guests to relax and focus on their treatment in a comfortable, nurturing setting. So whether you’re a patient recovering from heart surgery, parents of a NICU baby who need a close place to stay, or a patient undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments—our home is your respite.

Through generous donations from friends of the hospital and special fundraising, the guest rates remain lower than the rates at local hotels.  The current rate is $65 per night, plus tax.
