Bridge Demolition Between Sheraton And Towson Town Center Planned
Fairmount Avenue will be closed during the project.

TOWSON, MD β Part of Fairmount Avenue will be closed this weekend. The closure will allow for crews to remove the pedestrian bridge between Towson Town Center and the Sheraton.
The closure will run from 9 p.m. on Friday, July 27, to 6 a.m. on Monday, July 30, according to Baltimore County government officials.
The bridge is privately owned, and Baltimore County's only involvement in the project was to oversee the permitting, according to Councilman David Marks, who said he disagreed with the decision to remove it.

"While I know there are structural costs, my personal opinion is that demolishing the structure is shortsighted and will affect businesses in the long run," Marks said, "particularly as Goucher College makes plans to develop its campus."
He said that he thought Towson University was taken a more prudent approach to its pedestrian bridge, which it was working on near the Marriott.

Towson University closed its footbridge over Burke Avenue from May 8 to early July, according to a statement from the university, which attributed the closure to repairs needed on the metal underside of the bridge. Officials said they discovered the need for repairs during regular maintenance.
Originally, Fairmount Avenue was to be closed from April 27 to April 30, but the work was postponed. According to The Baltimore Sun, the postponement came after real estate firm CBRE had not signed off on its portion of the permit regarding Dulaney Valley Center.
