Challenges Of Baltimore Region: Towson Announces 5 Roundtables

With Baltimore and its perceived and real social ills atop the news this week, the Regional Economic Study Institute at Towson University has scheduled five roundtables in the weeks ahead on challenges facing the city and region and how to address them.

After each session, RESI will publish a policy brief covering the issues and the results of the discussion. The scheduled events are:

• Sept. 5, Food insecurity: How to ensure that all residents have access to healthy food.
• Sept. 12, Education: How to ensure that all students graduate with a high school degree.
• Sept. 19, Access to employment: How to ensure that all citizens find access to and are trained for the jobs that exist in our region.
• Sept. 26, Public transportation: How to ensure that residents without access to a car can access high-quality, stable jobs.
• Date TBD, An accessible economy: How to ensure that all residents, regardless of physical or mental ability, can share in Maryland’s economy.

All sessions will be held at 3 p.m. at 7400 York Road, Suite 301, in Towson.
