At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, police said that Aaron Michael Laciny, 20, of the 1300 block of South Charles Street, was hit while biking in the 6200 block of Charles Street.

Originally, authorities said it appeared that Laciny was hit by one vehicle, which left the scene, and then struck by a second vehicle that remained and whose driver called for help.

Laciny was taken to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where officials reported he was pronounced deceased.

After word about the deadly crash got out, a citizen in the 300 block of Overbrook Road alerted authorities about possibly having been involved.

"...the citizen saw media coverage of the crash and recalled striking what they believed to be debris left in the roadway Monday night," police said in a statement on Wednesday. "Crash investigators believe that the citizen’s vehicle may be a participant in the crash sequence, but continue working to identify all possible leads."

Surveillance video from the Exxon station in the 6200 block of Charles Street, which is under construction, shows two possible pieces of the puzzle.

One showed Laciny just before the crash occurred heading south on Charles Street.

Police said another video shows vehicles heading away from the scene after the crash.
